The Alliance Francaise music festival in Cuenca was held last Friday and Saturday. There were 57 groups involved that were scheduled with all types of music represented. I just caught some of it last Saturday morning and it was outstanding. All free as usual naturally.
This group was just over the bridge on the north side of the rio Tomebamba from Parque de la Madre. Very talented and sounded fantastic.
A little later at the same location this group performed that included a couple of pan flute players. They were excellent.
Meanwhile about a five minute walk to the east this band was playing at the Broken Bridge (Puente Roto). Some horns in this group.
Across the river at Parque de la Madre a huge stage was set up in the plaza on the south east corner of the park. I caught the rock band Anima Inside playing and wow, they were just awesome.
Here’s one of their music videos on You Tube, oh yeah.
Not really one of the scheduled groups but the always talented drum circle was playing in the north east corner of Parque de la Madre where you can find them playing just about every Saturday.

The festivals in Cuenca seem to be non-stop, proof of its cultural riches. Clearly, the music styles at this one varied so you could choose what you wanted to listen to, or just wait for the band change. Delightful.
