Cuenca Ecuador’s Ciclo Carrera 6K ( 3.73 miles) was held this morning at fire station #3 in Cuenca. It was a recreational bike/run event. It started at 9 A.M. this morning. This was the third year of Cuenca Ecuador’s Ciclo Carrera 6K and about 1,800 participants were expected.
The registration was yesterday at the main fire department administrative offices. The event was free and included a t-shirt given out this morning for everyone registered and after you crossed the finish line you got a medal.
The event was sponsored by Cuenca’s Fire Department to publicize the need to prevent forest fires and paid for by area businesses like Coral, Vivant and JEP to name a few.
I think runners probably outnumbered us bikers by about 10 to 1 and they let us go first.
I ride every day so the course was pretty easy for me and it was nice to participate in this Cuenca community event. Also nice that we owned the road for a change and motor vehicles had to wait for us to pass. lol
A great way to spend the morning and I’m looking forward to the next Cuenca biking event like this as it comes along.
The swag was nice too and I’m pleasantly shocked that the t-shirt actually fits. lol
